Our Partners

The City of Decatur CBDO (Community Based Development Organization) and the Partnership partnered to transform an empty lot in the city to the Seville Subdivision, a 24-home single-family housing develop for income-eligible homebuyers.  As the resurrection of possibility for new homeowners in Decatur, Seville now occupies the land that previously housed the Stonegate apartment complex, a location formerly known for high crime, a prevalence of drugs and a contagious feeling of hopelessness among its residents.

The East Decatur Community Improvement Association (EDCIAwas created in an effort to involve East Decatur residents in the ongoing improvemenof neighborhoods in the East Decatur community.  With an active board and resident participation, the EDCIA holds regular meetings to identify needs of individual residents and the community as a whole while preserving the character of the area.

FAHE logoFAHE (Federation of Appalachian Housing Enterprises) is on a mission to eliminate persistent poverty in Appalachia. Their unique collaborative model connects a Network of local, regional, and national leaders, all working together to uplift the nation’s rural places.

Working with our Network of 50+ nonprofits across the Appalachian portion of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Alabama, and Maryland, FAHE uses its expertise in finance, collaboration, innovation, advocacy, and communication to achieve a more prosperous Appalachian region.  With a focus on leadership, housing, education, health and social services, and economic opportunity, FAHE empowers the people and communities of Appalachia with the resources, opportunities, and tools needed to build a better life.  Their strength in numbers creates positive change in Appalachia, one of the poorest and most difficult regions of the country to serve.

Since its inception in 1980, FAHE and Members have served more than 375,000 Appalachians with housing, made over $609 million in direct investments, and achieved a total cumulative financial impact of over a billion dollars in the Appalachian region.

Our friends at the Decatur Home Depot have joined us for several years during NeighborWorks week to help transform the East Decatur community through our annual block makeovers.  Community involvement with Home Depot employees includes donations of labor and materials to completely transform homes of deserving homeowners.  Exterior painting of entire homes, landscaping, and minor external repairs highlight some of the skilled tasks performed by those representing Home Depot in an effort to serve the local community.

NeighborWorks America continues to strongly support the Partnership's efforts to provide affordable housing across the state of Alabama with significant funding and administrative backing.  At its March 2018 Organizational Health Tracking System (OHTS) Committee meeting, NeighborWorks America changed the health rating for The Partnership to Exemplary (the highest rating an organization can receive) based on On-Site review results.  The Partnership's affordable housing portfolio continues to grow as we focus our housing development efforts on developing high-quality, energy-efficient housing options for eligible residents.

The involvement of Regions Bank through significant financial contributions has allowed the Partnership to focus additional community improvement efforts on health and safety measures to make the homes of income-eligible residents places of wellness.  Internal and external renovations that make homes more energy efficient while providing healthier living environments are just part of the efforts focused on overall community improvements in the city of Decatur.

The Partnership is privileged to maintain a strong partnership with the United Way of Morgan County with direct United Way funding support for three of our most effective programs: Foster Grandparents, Meals on Wheels & More, and Senior Companions.  Along with the financial support for the Partnership's programs, Partnership staff across all counties of service in North Alabama are encouraged to participate annually in our United Way campaign to raise money for all local United Way agencies within our service area.
