Administration
Community Action Partnership of North Alabama employs more than 600 full- and part-time individuals across multiple programs. Our staff are led by highly qualified and capable leaders who are regarded as experts in their fields. Our key administrators include Tim Thrasher, Chief Executive Officer; Lorrie Mauro, Chief Fiscal Officer; and Allison Speegle, Executive Assistant to the CEO and Liaison to the Board of Directors.
Children's Services
Children's Services staff represent the Partnership in Early Head Start, Preschool Head Start, Pre-K, Parents As Teachers, and Home Visitors programs. Children's Services staff include Classroom Specialists, Family Engagement Leaders and Specialists, Infant/Toddler Leaders and Specialists, and Resource Specialists to serve children and families in 16 counties across North Alabama.
Energy Assistance
As part of the comprehensive Community Services program, our team of Family Service professionals are available to serve our clients who are in immediate need of assistance during months of high utility use. Our Energy Assistance staff serve customers at all three of our offices in Cullman, Lawrence and Morgan counties with traditional and emergency utility assistance needs.
Foster Grandparents
Our Foster Grandparents are senior members of our communities who contribute their wisdom, passion for learning and life experience to serving the lives of young people in local schools and youth programs in our three core county area of Cullman, Lawrence and Morgan counties. Members of our Foster Grandparent community are dedicated to their students and schools and are able to bring a quality to classrooms and programs that cannot be found in any textbook
Homeownership
As part of our commitment to affordable homeownership, the staff of the homeownership program offer workshops and counseling for those interested in becoming homeowners. Housing counseling, financial capabilities and budgeting topics are offered through group and one-on-one sessions for current and prospective homeowners to become more educated in areas relating to homeownership including money management, energy efficiency and mortgage guidance.
Housing and Community Development
The Partnership's Housing Business Unit is continuously engaged in affordable housing project development. From groundbreaking new projects to leasing existing developments, the Partnership's housing development portfolio reflects a commitment to serving income-eligible tenants in single family, multi-family and elderly developments. As a active community developmer, the Partnership is commited to engaging the community in the services and improvements that benefit all residents and particularly those who live at or below the poverty line. Connecting residents with affordable housing, community-building services and activities and other residents is a Partnership goal for making lives better while addressing the causes and consequences of poverty.
Meals on Wheels & More
The Meals on Wheels program is a locally funded program that depended on contributions from the community. The program is supported by the United Way of Morgan County, local churches, city and county governments, individuals, estates and businesses. Meals on Wheels & More was created to meet the nutritional needs of the elderly and disabled homebound residents of Morgan County. Daily meals are prepared with love and care by our staff at our licensed kitchen facility located in Decatur.
Senior Companions
Our Senior Companions are recruited in all 3 counties of our core county area (Cullman, Lawrence and Morgan) to provide help in the homes of individuals at risk of having to accept alternative care rather than continue to live in the comfort and familiarity of their homes. Senior Companions contribute to the lives of the clients they serve by offering light housekeeping, preparing meals, monitoring medications, encouraging exercise and provide respite care. They enable their clients to maintain their independence while establishing lasting friendships with one another.
Weatherization
Our weatherization team works with qualifying families across our service area to address energy-related needs for their homes. Income-eligible applicants are provided services that include weather stripping doors and windows, installation of energy-efficient heating and/or cooling systems, replacement of doors and/or windows and other energy conservation measures to aid in the reduction of energy bills.
