Angela Ingram awarded 2019 Jon Siemen Memorial Scholarship
Angela Ingram, Director of The Partnership's Weatherization programs, has been awarded a Jon Siemen Memorial scholarship. The scholarship gives Angela the opportunity to further her knowledge, career, and impact within the home performance industry. The Jon Siemen Memorial Scholarship was developed in honor of Jon Siemen, BPI employee, who passed away in 2015. Jon worked with various Weatherization Assistance Programs throughout his career and was passionate about helping people through weatherization. Meghan McCormick of the awarding agency says of Angela, "You have shown that you work with a Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and have a passion for weatherization, residential energy efficiency, and helping others." We are fortunate to have Angela serve the agency in her leadership role. We are proud of Angela's accomplishments that have led to her receiving this competitive award. Congratulations, Angela!

Children's Services Nutrition Specialist Publishes Nutrition Research
Nutrition Specialist Krystal Jennings, in collaboration with a team of Public Health graduate students at the University of Tennessee, has published their work Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Faculty and Trainees Work Collaboratively with Community Partners to Assess Afterschool Nutrition Environments. The semester-long project focused on plate waste in afterschool nutrition programs. The resulting data collected throughout the semester resulted in suggestions for nutrition environment improvements and policy development for community partners. New Facilities Team Member
Michael Nelson was recently hired as a Facilities Team Member for the Partnership. Michael will be based out of Moulton Head Start and covering many of our classrooms in the northwest area. Michael comes to us with many years of maintenance experience and will be a valuable asset to our team.

Foster Grandparent Coordinator Named
We are pleased to welcome Michele Andrews to the Partnership as she has begun her role as the Foster Grandparent Coordinator. Michele will engage and connect senior adults to service opportunities with at-risk youth in Morgan, Lawrence and Cullman Counties. Michele holds a BS in Education from Athens State University, a BA in Social Work from Auburn University and a BA in Sociology from Samford University. We are excited about Michele’s desire to be a lifelong learner and know her combination of education and experience will bring new ideas and resources to our program.

Children Services Organizational Announcement
As we continue to increase the quality of instruction and produce better results for all children and their families, we often discover that some changes just make sense. Edie Dugger will join the Classroom Coaches team under the direction of Rebecca Land along with Misty Wheeler, Josh Garretson, Amy Henderson, Ginny Tharp, and Kellie Holcomb (dual role as CSCS) and Tammy Davis (Social-Emotional Resource Specialist). Edie brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to this team and will help develop a closer link between coaching and professional development.
The Classroom Coach is a newly created role driven by the newest Head Start Performance Standards. They utilize Practiced-Based Coaching techniques to support teachers and teacher assistants to improve CLASS and TPOT scores, work together with staff and Classroom Specialists to develop individualized Professional Development Plans, assist with classroom management strategies and serve as a Professional Development team to increase the overall quality of Children's Services. The increased effort and focus of this team will allow us to continue to support children having difficulty adjusting, as well as children with behavior challenges. In addition, the Classroom Coach will support Family Engagement to raise the level of parent education on child development and the importance of consistency as parents/caregivers.

The Partnership is closing at 3:11 p.m. today to allow staff time to travel safely to their respective holiday destinations. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 30th at 8 a.m.

Cindy Anderson presented John Abbott John Abbott Outstanding Loaned Executive Award
Cindy Anderson was presented the John Abbott Outstanding Loaned Executive Award on Friday, March 10th at United Way of Morgan County's "A Morning at the Oscars." United Way's Kathleen Ross and Sherry Pentecost had the following to say about the John Abbott Award:
With just three paid employees, we could never support our partner agencies at a significant level of funding without our campaign volunteers. They call on existing and potential corporate donors, making endless phone calls and sending an untold number of e-mails. They deliver brochures and pledge forms for participating companies and serve as ambassadors for United Way at company rallies. They attend two full days of training and multiple early morning meetings in order to create a plan and then execute that plan to ensure that every person who wants to participate in the United Way Campaign gets an opportunity to do so, which will result in our raising as much money as possible to allocate to our Partner Agencies.
